Catherine Smith has been an active board member of the Chamber for more than 4 years and is Chair of the Professional Women’s Network (under the Chamber). She has lived in Myanmar for more than 7 years, where she has established several successful startups, in business services and tourism, acted as advisor on market entry to overseas companies, and consulted to foreign and local businesses on tourism, marketing, property and consumer services.

Catherine is currently running her own business – Pragma Ventures – which is focused on reviving sericulture in Myanmar. Pragma works with, and trains farmers in Chin State to support mulberry planting for silk production, and then develops hand-woven product for local sale and export (www.pochisilk.com). Catherine is passionate about female empowerment in her business - Pragma runs regular training programs with farmers and weavers to encourage farming communities to amplify the voice of women in daily life, and elevate them to leadership roles.

She has 25+ years working in Hong Kong, Indochina, Sri Lanka, Scandinavia and Russia working for, among others, The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros; and has experience across a range of business sectors. She holds a degree in French & Italian from studies at the universities of Leicester, Bordeaux and Pisa, and a business diploma from London Business School.

Thiri Thant Mon is Managing Partner of Pegu Partners, a capital and strategy advisory firm focused on Myanmar. She also serves as the CEO of the Myanmar Institute of Directors and runs City Invest, an investment platform in conjunction with City Holdings.

She has over 20 years of experience in the US, UK and Myanmar, including as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley in London and member of the executive leadership team at Yoma Strategic Holdings in Myanmar. She is a board member of Dawn Microfinance Myanmar and a trustee for Turquoise Mountain Foundation.

She holds a BA in Economics from William & Mary and an MBA from the London Business School.

Tina Singhsacha (Senior Advisor at TPG)

Senior Advisor at TPG

Tina Singhsacha is currently based in Thailand, and acts as Senior Advisor to TPG, a global Private Equity fund. She has a 25-year track record in banking and management consulting across ASEAN.

Before returning to Thailand in 2017, Tina served as the Country Head at Standard Chartered Bank in Myanmar, during which she led the reestablishment of the Bank’s presence in the country and launched several initiatives to support the development of the financial sector in Myanmar. With the support of the UK government, Tina helped to found the UK-Myanmar Financial Services Taskforce, which was instrumental in aiding the setup of the Myanmar Institute of Directors.

Tina holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting & Finance from UNSW in Australia, an MBA in Marketing & Finance from Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), and an MBA-Exchange Program in marketing from Wharton School (USA).
