Peter Crowhurst is the Chief Executive Officer of the British Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, appointed by the Board of Directors to the role in December 2018.

Peter has a wealth of experience, having spent the past thirty years working in Asian Markets. Initially Peter worked in Hospitality at General Manager level, in Hong Kong and China, but moved on into Real Estate, becoming an Asset and Investment Manager with ING. In this role he supported real estate development and investment projects in China and Taiwan. During his time in with ING and latterly CBRE Global Investors, Peter was responsible for portfolios in Taiwan and Singapore, with assets in excess of USD 650 Million.

Peter’s relocation to Myanmar was orchestrated through Yoma Strategic Holdings, whom he joined in 2013 when based in Singapore. Peter moved to Myanmar full time in 2014 as Head of Real Estate Asset Management at Yoma Strategic.

While at the Chamber Peter aims to support British business, together with the UK Government Department of International Trade, bringing investment and trade opportunities to Myanmar. Peter will also focus on developing initiatives, alongside the Chamber team, for bi lateral trade from Myanmar to the United Kingdom. One of the top objectives of such initiatives is job creation and benefits for Myanmar citizens.

Peter was part of the founding team that established the British Chamber of Commerce and has served on the board for the last five years since its inception.

Jon joined International SOS in London in September 2005 and was closely involved in the relationship management and operational delivery of assistance to the multi-national Business Travel and iPMI clients. Jon also oversaw the delivery of crisis management support to clients, most notably during the Arab Spring in 2011.

In February 2012 Jon became the Regional Operations Manager – Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan based in Beijing, and then in 2014 expanded his remit to include South Korea and Japan as the Regional Operations Manager – North Asia. In August 2016 Jon relocated to Singapore to take on the role of Regional Operations Manager – Asia, and in this role Jon is responsible for overseeing assistance service delivery to clients across the Asia region.

David Ng (Country Director for Malaysia and Myanmar of International SOS)

David oversees all of International SOS’s business in Malaysia and Myanmar encompassing over 470 employees. International SOS is the world’s leading medical and security assistance company operating in 92 countries. The company is head quartered in London and Singapore.

In 2015, David was appointed as the Vice Chairman of British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (“BMCC”). David has served as one of the Board Members since 2010. He also serves as the Treasurer of Malaysian German Chamber of Commerce (“MGCC”) since 2017.

David holds a BSC in Civil Engineering (Surrey University) and an MBA (Warwick University). He is also a Fellow of ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales).

As the Regional Medical Director for South & South East Asia, Dr Teo David oversees the Assistance and Medical Services in this region. For the assistance services, it covers the services provided by International SOS Assistance Centres in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Philippines and India, which also cover assistance operation support for other International SOS locations in Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Maldives, Nepal and Brunei. He also heads expert teams of Coordinating Doctors and Nurses in these Assistance Centres, ensuring a high level of service across the region. Additionally, Dr Teo provides medical oversight for Medical Services to remote sites in the above countries.

Dr Teo possesses invaluable experience in disaster relief planning and response, and medical incident management. In addition, he conducts medical training, medical audits, evaluation of on-site medical capabilities and development of medical emergency response plans for clients’ onshore and offshore sites in the region.

Dr Teo joined International SOS’ Singapore Assistance Centre as Senior Coordinating Doctor in 2007. Prior to that, he was the Chief Army Medical Officer of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), holding the military rank of a Colonel.

During his 22-year career with SAF, he undertook several peacekeeping missions and was seconded to the Department of Peacekeeping Operations of United Nations in New York. As a member of the United Nations Disaster Assessment & Coordination Team, he travelled extensively to different countries providing expert assistance during disasters.

Dr Teo was also responsible for training various national agencies in disaster preparation and relief for earthquakes, tsunamis and terrorist attacks, and for delivering consultancy projects to private sector companies, including oil and gas, on mass casualty preparation and response.

Dr Teo works closely with our clients in the Education sector in the Asia region in managing their medical risks on the campus as well as on overseas school trips, exchange programmes etc. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, he has supported many of our clients in ensuring safe operations for the students and staff. He has also developed various risk assessment tools to support decision-making during this pandemic. Dr Teo is a leading expert for the co-author of whitepapers for the Education Sector: Campus Health Guidelines and Health and Security Risks in the Education Sector: Field Trip Management Framework.

Dr Teo obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Singapore, followed by a Master in Medicine (Occupational Medicine) in 1993. He is an Occupational Health Specialist registered with the Ministry of Health and Academy of Medicine Singapore. Dr. Teo is also a Designated Factory Doctor certified by the Ministry of Manpower. He has lectured post-graduates at the National University of Singapore on occupational medicine and served as a Senior Medical Advisor in the Department of Industrial Health, Ministry of Manpower.

Dr Tay Zar LIN, an emergency medical doctor has been delivering customised emergency response training and simulation training to different healthcare providers for over 7 years. Since the simulation training and occupational health is his special interest, he is passionate to develop individual facilitation contents and curriculum for different clients (oil and gas, manufacturing, education sector and so on).

Dr Tay Zar is the graduate of the University of Medicine II, Yangon and has received post-graduate emergency medical training in India and has undergone travel health training in the UK. He also is the American Heart Association BLS and ACLS instructor.
