Neil Carmichael has 30+ years' experience in the energy industry. Starting in Shell as a petroleum engineer, he migrated to business development and country chair roles. After positions in Kazakhstan & Turkmenistan, Dr Carmichael left the IOC & became CEO of Pacific Green Technologies group, an emissions controls & environmental engineering company. He is also involved in several other start ups, including a charity, the Fair Trade Software Foundation. His academic background in in mathematics, BSc (Edinburgh) and PhD (Warwick). He is married, with two children.

Alice is leading the Energy Catalyst programme for Innovate UK, which provides grant funding and innovation accelerator support to energy projects which are low cost, low carbon and secure as well as meeting the energy access needs of Sub Saharan Africa and South and South East Asia.

Alice is also part of the team working on the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund: Prospering from the Energy Revolution leading their international strategy.

Mike Madden has worked in the energy industry for nearly 40 years and been involved in international consultancy for the last 25 years working in over 50 different countries. Mike started his career as high-pressure pipeline engineer with British Gas plc before moving into the commercial side of the business as a commercial negotiator developing and drafting gas transportation contracts to facilitate gas market liberalisation. Having established MJMEnergy in 1994 Mike and his team from a combination of technical and commercial advice throughout the gas chain. In terms of SSLNG recent projects have included SSLNG logistics in South Africa; SSLNG market assessments in Namibia; The identification of possible SSLNG projects in Indonesia suitable for investment in Indonesia and a costing of SSLNG in Senegal.

Today Mike is going to be providing an overview of how SSLNG works, the technical and commercial aspects by providing an overview the technologies available and how they might be deployed in different contexts, using examples from the different contexts throughout the world.
