Peter Crowhurst is the Chief Executive Officer of the British Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, appointed by the Board of Directors to the role in December 2018.

Peter has a wealth of experience, having spent the past thirty years working in Asian Markets. Initially Peter worked in Hospitality at General Manager level, in Hong Kong and China, but moved on into Real Estate, becoming an Asset and Investment Manager with ING. In this role he supported real estate development and investment projects in China and Taiwan. During his time in with ING and latterly CBRE Global Investors, Peter was responsible for portfolios in Taiwan and Singapore, with assets in excess of USD 650 Million.

Peter’s relocation to Myanmar was orchestrated through Yoma Strategic Holdings, whom he joined in 2013 when based in Singapore. Peter moved to Myanmar full time in 2014 as Head of Real Estate Asset Management at Yoma Strategic.

While at the Chamber Peter aims to support British business, together with the UK Government Department of International Trade, bringing investment and trade opportunities to Myanmar. Peter will also focus on developing initiatives, alongside the Chamber team, for bi lateral trade from Myanmar to the United Kingdom. One of the top objectives of such initiatives is job creation and benefits for Myanmar citizens.

Peter was part of the founding team that established the British Chamber of Commerce and has served on the board for the last five years since its inception.

Dr. Pyi Soe Aung (Conservation Director of WWF Myanmar)

Dr Pyi Soe Aung is the Conservation Director at WWF-Myanmar. He holds both an M.Sc and Ph.D. degree in Tropical Forestry from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany. He previously worked at the International Union of Nature Conservation (IUCN) as a Senior Water and Wetlands Programme Officer. Having more than 14 years of experience in the nature conservation sector, he has extensive knowledge in the conservation and management of forests, wildlife, and freshwater. He leads several freshwater projects including Free-flowing rivers, Tha Bar Wa, and promotes Water Stewardship for Small-Medium-Large enterprises in the Greater Mekong Region.

Hannah Baleta (CONSULTANT AND RESEARCHER at WWF-Myanmar)

Hannah has been working in the water sector on a range of topics from water stewardship and corporate water risk to the concept of “water and the economy.” She has worked in the private sector as a consultant and as a researcher within NGOs. Hannah has a BSc in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Cape Town (UCT), an MSc in Water Science Policy and Management from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the UCT centred around the concept of shared water risks between the public and private sector.
Hannah spent 18 months in 2017 and 2018 with WWF in Myanmar coordinating the Rivers in the Economy Project. There she also supported the initial water stewardship efforts within the water team. Since returning to South Africa, Hannah continues supporting WWF-Myanmar wherever possible.

Theint Haymar Maung is a Sustainability Manager at HEINEKEN Myanmar, where she has been at the forefront of driving the Sustainability and Responsibility Agenda since 2017. Her role entails the oversight of local sustainability initiatives spanning Environment, Social, and Responsible practices.

Haymar is a driving force behind the "Making Myanmar Roads Safer" initiative, a vital component of the broader Road Safety campaign. She has taken the lead in organizing impactful workshops on policy development, collaborating with government agencies, international organizations, and private sector stakeholders to advance road safety in Myanmar.

In addition to her commitment to road safety, she has spearheaded a variety of social impact endeavours. One noteworthy project involves facilitating access to clean drinking water for local communities through close coordination with local organizations.

As part of the talent program, Haymar was assigned to Vietnam, recognized as the highest-performing market in the Asia-Pacific region, for an enriching six-month experience. This opportunity allowed her to deepen her understanding of sustainable and responsible business practices.

Haymar holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science, earned from Chiang Mai University, underscoring her academic foundation in fields that underpin her impactful work in sustainability and corporate responsibility.
