Leisha recently joined the Origination team at UK Export Finance as a Senior Business Origination Officer, covering the Asia Pacific, South Asia and EECAN regions. Prior to this, Leisha ran UKEF’s international engagement efforts and innovative supplier fair programme, connecting the UK supply chain with high-value opportunities overseas.

Julian has 30 years’ international banking experience in project, structured, export and asset finance, including with Standard Chartered and HSBC. Julian joined UKEF as an Export Finance Manager for the London East and City area, before moving to the Underwriting team where he played an instrumental role in underwriting UKEF’s first offshore wind projects in Taiwan. More recently, he joined the Origination team as Regional Head for Asia Pacific, China and the Middle East.

Hugo is the director and head of Astris Finance in Asia Pacifc.

Astris is a leading independent investment and transaction financial advisory firm, with unmatched expertise in emerging market infrastructure and energy project finance. Astris was founded in 2000 as the emerging market subsidiary of European banking group Dexia focusing on Latin America. It became an independent firm in 2008. Astris Finance provides a full range of services: public and private sector advisory, advisory at bid stage, project debt and equity raising, buy and sell side M&A, and corporate strategic advisory across emerging markets. Azeem has successfully invested and exited PE investments as a Principle Investor and Operating Partner. Led Enterprise Redesign and Business Transformation developing integrated business and technology strategies to drive organizational change.
Since 2015, AYA Bank (www.ayabank.com) has become the first bank in Myanmar to be IFRS compliant and also the first to be audited under supervision of a big-4 girm now for three consecutive years; successfully implemented segregation of Front, Middle and Back Offices and independence of Internal Audit. Azeem’s current responsibilities include Strategic Partnerships, Treasury, Accounting & Finance, Corporate Governance and mentoring.

Neil Carmichael has 30+ years' experience in the energy industry. Starting in Shell as a petroleum engineer, he migrated to business development and country chair roles. After positions in Kazakhstan & Turkmenistan, Dr Carmichael left the IOC & became CEO of Pacific Green Technologies group, an emissions controls & environmental engineering company. He is also involved in several other start ups, including a charity, the Fair Trade Software Foundation. His academic background in in mathematics, BSc (Edinburgh) and PhD (Warwick). He is married, with two children.

Peter Crowhurst is the Chief Executive Officer of the British Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, appointed by the Board of Directors to the role in December 2018.

Peter has a wealth of experience, having spent the past thirty years working in Asian Markets. Initially Peter worked in Hospitality at General Manager level, in Hong Kong and China, but moved on into Real Estate, becoming an Asset and Investment Manager with ING. In this role he supported real estate development and investment projects in China and Taiwan. During his time in with ING and latterly CBRE Global Investors, Peter was responsible for portfolios in Taiwan and Singapore, with assets in excess of USD 650 Million.

Peter’s relocation to Myanmar was orchestrated through Yoma Strategic Holdings, whom he joined in 2013 when based in Singapore. Peter moved to Myanmar full time in 2014 as Head of Real Estate Asset Management at Yoma Strategic.

While at the Chamber Peter aims to support British business, together with the UK Government Department of International Trade, bringing investment and trade opportunities to Myanmar. Peter will also focus on developing initiatives, alongside the Chamber team, for bi lateral trade from Myanmar to the United Kingdom. One of the top objectives of such initiatives is job creation and benefits for Myanmar citizens.

Peter was part of the founding team that established the British Chamber of Commerce and has served on the board for the last five years since its inception.
