Exporting to the UK

A discussion on the perceived Barriers and Solutions, with a focus on the Agriculture Industry

The British Chamber of Commerce Myanmar together with the London Myanmar Embassy and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) would like to invite exporters, producers and traders to learn more about exporting to the UK.

Myanmar's agricultural sector is the backbone of its economy, contributing 37.8% of gross domestic product (GDP) and accounting for 25 to 30 percent of total export earnings. It employs 70 percent of the labour force in Myanmar. Myanmar has established 12 political, economic and social objectives in its efforts to establish a peaceful, modern and developed country. One major economic objective is the "Development of agriculture as a base and all-round development of other sectors of the economy as well." (Organisation, 2020).

The purpose of the webinar is to further support Myanmar's exports and exporters with the UK being the target market, provide broad more information on market entry requirements.

The event will be presented in both Myanmar and English language so an understanding of both is desirable.

Who should attend?

  • Businesses in UK seeking suppliers of agricultural products from Myanmar such as beans, pulses, fruits and vegetables.
  • Myanmar traders, producers and exporters seeking new markets and more information on exporting to the UK.
