English for Legal Professionals


British Chamber of Commerce Myanmar in collaboration with Edulink Myanmar brought English course training series for your language development in your careers. The training series will be with the topics as follows:


  • English for HR Professionals
  • English for Marketing and Advertising
  • English for Logistics
  • English for Accounting
  • English for Legal


This course has been designed to provide anyone who needs to speak about the law in a business environment with the language they need to be able to operate with confidence. It covers selected basic areas of Commercial Law: company law, employment law, contract law, patent and copyright law, mergers and takeovers, risk management, and bankruptcy law.


The course will consist of English for special purposes (Legal English) for students at B1+ to B2 (Intermediate - Upper-intermediate) Level. There will be a strong emphasis on speaking and presenting in class and on writing as homework assignments. The main goal of this curriculum will be to improve business English and communication in the context of working in a legal department.

Course Aims

  1. Students will be able to give advice and make recommendations
  2. Students will be able to explain steps of a procedure on business situations
  3. Students will be able to refer to legal documents , stating rights and obligations
  4. Students will be able to report outcomes, write formal letters and emails
  5. Students will be able to accurately use common contract terminology
  6. Students will be able to interacting with a client and advise a course of action
  7. Students will be able to negotiate and amend an agreement
  8. Students will be able to link an ideas in writing on negotiation of an exclusive copyright agreement
  9. Students will be able to compare and contrast legal structures , use vocabulary for company procedures
  10. Students will be able to use language of meetings and expression s used in takeovers
  11. Students will be able to use insolvency vocabulary accurately and emphasise a point
  12. Students will be able to hypothesise about past actions

Access and Cancellation:


You will be sent the link to attend 24 hours in advance, then again one hour before. You must pay for your ticket in advance, or you will not be sent the access link.


If you are no longer able to attend please cancel your place a minimum of one week in advance via email to grace@britishchambermyanmar.com. All no shows will still be charged the entry fee. Places which have not been cancelled will not be refunded.
